Cloud migration
Cloud migration rethought: Strategic. Secure. Fit for the future.
Whether it’s a lift-and-shift, cloud-native development, a change of cloud provider or even a move back to a local infrastructure: we support you with technology-agnostic cloud expertise and tailor-made strategies.
Why a clear cloud strategy is crucial
The cloud has long been more than just a storage location. It forms the technological backbone for modern software development, data processing and business processes. However, without a well thought-out cloud strategy, cloud migration can quickly become a cost trap or a security risk.
That’s why we support you right from the start: We help you choose the right cloud platform, analyze your existing infrastructure and develop a scalable, secure cloud architecture. Whether it’s a lift-and-shift, a change of cloud provider, cloud-native development or a return to an on-prem data center – we will work with you to find the best solution.
Our technology expertise ranges from Azure, AWS and GCP to sovereign clouds and hybrid models – for example with Kubernetes, OpenShift or locally operated Exasol clusters. The following applies to every migration: the focus is on your goals, your security and your future viability.
Our services for cloud migration & cloud-native development
Migration to the cloud (Lift & Shift)
Efficiently migrate existing systems to the cloud – without restructuring, but with future-proofing.
Change cloud provider
Switch from e.g. AWS to Azure or GCP – incl. planning, data migration and automation.
Cloud-native development & serverless
Develop scalable applications with Azure Functions, AWS Lambda or Google Cloud Functions.
Return to on-prem / local cloud
Back from the cloud – with local infrastructure such as Exasol, Kubernetes or OpenShift clusters.
Sovereign Cloud & data protection
Sovereign cloud solutions with AWS, Microsoft or Telekom – GDPR-compliant and independent.
Hybrid & multi-cloud scenarios
Combine private cloud, public cloud and on-prem for maximum flexibility and resilience.
Cloud readiness & architecture assessment
Before you start a cloud migration, it is worth taking a critical look at your existing architecture. Not every application necessarily needs to be in the cloud – and not every cloud provider is the best choice in the long term.
With our cloud readiness analysis, we identify technical debt and clarify the potential and risks of a migration to the cloud or a return to the cloud. We also consider aspects such as scaling, security, maintainability and costs.
Whether it’s a lift-and-shift, a change of provider or a return to local infrastructure: we provide you with a sound basis for decision-making for your cloud strategy – open to technology, realistic and practical.
How we accompany your cloud journey – structured, iterative, in partnership
Individual cloud readiness analysis
Together, we evaluate your current infrastructure and architecture – whether on-premises or already hybrid – and identify specific cloud potential.
Iterative approach instead of big bang
Instead of converting everything at once, we rely on agile sprints with clear goals – from lift-and-shift to replatforming and full cloud-native implementation.
Close collaboration & co-creation
We see ourselves not only as a service provider, but also as a partner – in the selection of the right tools, in architecture decisions and in ongoing operations.

Frequently asked questions about cloud migration
What is Lift & Shift?
"Lift & Shift" describes the migration of existing systems directly to the cloud without fundamental changes. It is a fast method for transferring legacy systems to a modern infrastructure - ideal for the first step towards the cloud.
Is it possible to return from the cloud?
Yes, in certain cases it may make sense to return to local data centers - e.g. with Exasol on-prem or Kubernetes or OpenShift clusters. We support you in evaluating and implementing the optimal path.
What does Sovereign Cloud actually mean?
Sovereign cloud offerings such as those from AWS or Telekom enable adherence to European data protection and compliance requirements. Data storage and access rights are clearly regulated - an important building block in sensitive industries.
Which technologies does cimt support in cloud development?
We develop cloud-native applications, e.g. with Azure Functions, AWS Lambda or Google Cloud Functions. We also advise on architectures with Kubernetes, OpenShift and modern data warehouses such as Snowflake or Databricks.
