Initial situation

Berlin Water Companies is Europe’s largest water supply and wastewater disposal company.
The current construction measures in the city’s water and sewer network are mapped in a highly complicated business process. The individual steps of the workflows, from planning to control to realization, require continuous monitoring and control.

Berlin Water Companies was looking for an IT-supported system that could individually map the various processes on a broad level and at the same time be flexibly controlled.

Mission

Concept, development and maintenance of a Java EE/BPM-based solution for planning and controlling construction measures.

Solution

Based on two standard products from BPM and document management, cimt ag created a highly integrated, flexible web application that can be extended at any time.

The solutions were developed in close contact with business users in an iterative approach. Prototypes and expansion stages supported the agile development.

Results

The workflows can now be processed on schedule thanks to clear and structured target process documentation, without neglecting the individual character of each case. Thanks to the integrated electronic file and the comprehensive reporting, administrators and managers have access to the entire documentation of measures and the system framework data at any time and from anywhere. The project was implemented in a future-proof infrastructure that ensures easy expandability and enables extensive SAP integration.
