Initial Situation

The digital transformation presented German Leasing with strategic issues that required solutions for the next 8-10 years. The IT of the asset finance partner was characterized by different, outdated standard systems and in-house developments with evolved integration. The application strategy had to be considered holistically and reformulated.

The following challenges set the framework conditions:
– Narrowing down the task (reducing complexity)
– Developing and describing the architecture for the application strategy scenarios at board level
– Developing a method for estimating the costs of the entire scenario
– Establishing the comparability of cost estimation, roadmap and evaluation

Mission

Analysis and comparison of different application strategy scenarios for the future-oriented alignment of IT for the next 8-10 years.

Solution

Seven different application strategy scenarios were drawn up based on business capabilities. Three scenarios stood out in terms of costs, risks and roadmap, which were to be examined and evaluated in more detail.

Approach

Results

The methodical, structured approach to analysis and elaboration succeeded in taking the enormous complexity out of the task. With the help of the decision template and the interactively conducted strategy retreat, the executive board was able to make an immediate decision for the preferred scenario and thus set the cornerstones of the application strategy.
